Since its first settlement in the early 18th Century and eventual incorporation in 1926, Wyckoff, New Jersey has developed into a lovely tree-lined residential community of approximately 16,000 residents. The Township of Wyckoff comprises seven square miles and is only 27 miles from New York City.

Shopping & Dining

The district that gives Wyckoff its character is the 10-block Triangle in the center of town, which has dozens of specialty shops, boutiques, kitchen supply stores and antique shops in Victorian houses. Boulder Run, the largest of the shopping centers houses local favorites, like Blue Moon Mexican Cafe, franchises, like Starbucks and Goldfish Swim School, as well as a Marshall's and Stop & Shop Supermarket. Outside of the town center, you can also find hidden gems such as Abma's Farm & Market which offers fresh produce, bakery & florals, a deli, petting zoo, summer camp and Fall favorites such as hay rides and pumpkin picking.

Getting Around

While Wyckoff does not have it's own train station, the Waldwick station is easily accessible by car. Bus service is also provided by Short Line Bus to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. Locally, Route 208 heads northwest through the township, entering from Hawthorne in Passaic County and continuing for 2.5 miles into Franklin Lakes. New Jersey Transit also provides local bus service between Oakland and Hackensack.

Education

The Wyckoff School District serves public students in Kindergarten through eighth grade. The schools in the district are four elementary schools and Eisenhower Middle School. In the 2003-04 school year, Eisenhower Middle School was recognized with the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award from the US DOE, the highest honor that an American school can achieve. Public high school students from Wyckoff entering the district as freshmen have the option to attend either of the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional District's high schools, subject to a choice made during eighth grade. Schools in the district are Indian Hills High School, located in Oakland and Ramapo High School, located in Franklin Lakes. Private schools include Eastern Christian Middle School and Saint Elizabeth School, which serves children grades PreK-8 and was recognized in 2011 with the National Blue Ribbon Award of Excellence.

Community

The country feel of the 6.7-square-mile township is reinforced by a tradition of volunteerism that is rare in modern communities. Its five parent-teacher organizations raise about $100,000 a year for special programs and equipment. Among the 50 or so other volunteer organizations in town is Partners in Pride, which raised nearly $400,000 for the construction of Community Park, a 12-acre recreational facility off Wyckoff Avenue. This is in addition to donated engineering services, labor and materials. Organizations in town also run events, such as a Halloween costume parade and Fourth of July fireworks.

Parks & Recreation

The largest of the recreation areas in Wyckoff is Community Park. This facility located off of Franklin Avenue behind the Wyckoff Town Hall, consists of two baseball fields which are also used for soccer, a lighted high school level baseball field, a soccer practice field, four lighted basketball courts, a band shell, eight lighted public tennis courts, a handball court, a playground and a football program facility. It also neighbors the public library. Among the township's parks, the James A. McFaul Environmental Center stands out. The 81-acre park offers native woodlands, horticultural gardens, a waterfowl pond and an exhibit building. The center also offers a great variety of nature programs for school, scout and special interest groups. In addition to the town's offerings, the Wyckoff Family YMCA provides residents young and old with a large variety of activities, including an amazing summer camp and man-made beach with its own pool house.
