Washington Township is a township of approximately 9,100 residents located in the northern portion of Bergen County. Residents here enjoy a quaint small-town feel overflowing with a sense of community.

Shopping & Dining

Washington Town Center is a centrally located and convenient shopping center in the community, which includes larger establishments such as Foodtown and Clearview Cinemas movie theater, as well as smaller stores and eateries which serve the basic needs of residents. In nearby Westwood you can also find a quaint and walkable downtown area filled with mom and pop shops and restaurants.

Getting Around

Due to its close proximity to New York City, there are various public transportation options for the commuter. There are both New Jersey Transit buses and trains (in nearby Westwood) that run on a regular basis to New York City. The town also provide senior citizen and people with disabilities a van service.

Education

The Township of Washington has a consolidated school system with the neighboring town, Westwood - with elementary schools in both towns and the Jr./Sr. High School located in the Township. There is also a Catholic Girls' High School, Immaculate Heart Academy, in the Township. It is one of the five outstanding Parochial High Schools in Bergen County.

Parks & Recreation

The town has several parks and recreation programs, including baseball and softball for children and adults in the Spring through early Summer. There is also a full Summer Camp offered in the Summer. Another favorite Summertime activity is the Washington Township Swim and Recreation Club, a privately owned and operated club boasting a beautiful Olympic-sized heated pool, full locker and shower facilities, a separate fenced in kiddie pool area, an enclosed club house, a shaded picnic area, and a snack stand.
