Probably the most well-known establishment in town is Elmer's Country Store - a gas station, convenience store and deli with a seating area that was recently renovated while also maintaining many historical elements.
Getting AroundShort Line busses offers limited service from stops on Lake Street and Saddle River Road between the borough and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan.
EducationUpper Saddle River is known for its excellent school system and is a part of the Northern Highlands Regional High School, one of the most highly regarded high schools in the state. Public school students in pre-K through eighth grade attend the Upper Saddle River School District. The schools in the district are Robert D. Reynolds Primary School (grades PreK-2), Edith A. Bogert Elementary School (3-5) and Emil A. Cavallini Middle School (6-8). For ninth through twelfth grades, public school students attend the Northern Highlands Regional High School in nearby Allendale. Rodie Child Care Center, run by the YWCA of Bergen County, is open to children from 6 weeks old to 6 years old, including an all-day private Kindergarten class, and is located on Pleasant Avenue. The Upper Saddle River Library, in addition to all types of information, provides state-of-the-art technology and a wide variety of programming for children and adults.
CommunityUpper Saddle River is a small, caring community. The town offers a variety of social and service clubs for those interested in becoming involved, such as The Woman's Club, Boy & Girl Scouts and the Jewish Community Organization.
Parks & RecreationResidents of all ages enjoy a strong sports and recreation program with a variety of annual events. Parks include Lions Park, Hess Park, Liberty Pond Park, and the fields at Bogert, Reynolds and Cavallini Schools.
